Wanted 2 gets its writer
Simon Brew
Work is about to start on the follow-up to one of summer 2008's unexpected hits
According to MTV this morning, the sequel to Wanted is pressing ahead, with co-writer Chris Morgan attached to the project. Morgan, who wrote the screenplay for the first film alongside Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, will be working with Mark Millar and director Timur Bekmambetov on the sequel to one of summer 2008’s surprise hits.
Morgan, whose previous writing credits include Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift, next summer’s new Fast & Furious film and the underrated Cellular, starts with a reasonably clean slate, given just how many characters made it through the first film intact. “The point is to continue the journey that Wes started in the first film”, he’s quoted as saying. “Wherever he ended up at the end of the film, now it’s time to move him forward”.
Don’t expect the film until around 2011. And the MTV story is here.

Re: Wanted 2 gets its writer I only went to the first film to see Jolie strut about, and shes dead :(. I hope they bring her back, i dont care how they have to twist the story to do it.
Re: Wanted 2 gets its writer Apparantly im the only one who thinks this, but this movie was god awful. Horrible story, bad script. Waste of good actors like freeman and jolie. I would never see the sequel in a million years. The whole movie was just cheesy action. I need something more. I cant believe people actually liked this film. Ive got to put it up there with one of the worst movies Ive seen. especially because I was anticipating at least something mediocre.
Re: Wanted 2 gets its writer I agree with Vinnydoz007, The original film lacked any message in the plot - essential if it is to be any more than a series of set-piece scenes strung together on a story-board.
Re: Wanted 2 gets its writer I disagree, sort of. The film doesn't take itself too seriosuly and pretend to be something its not. Its an entertaining action piece in the vein of The Transporter movies. Having said that, theres a pretty obvious message about the nature of religion in there.
Re: Wanted 2 gets its writer Perhaps im a bit of a movie snob. But I really hated the transporter as well. I dont like movies devoid of substance and just shearly action. And to me to waste good talent, is just stupid. If you wanted to make a cheesy action flick, why morgan freeman, Angelina Jolie and the main character whose name escapes me, but i happen to think is a very good actor. I dont know. I just expect a lot more from a movie, and this one in particular left me practically laughing in my seat.
Im with you DangerousDave in that it really was about getting from action scene to action scene more so than anything else, everything in between seemed neglected. Although I think there was one scene with his boss which was funny, i dont completely remember.
Re: Wanted 2 gets its writer Hey But Yeah, You Want To Know How Bad Movie Is All You Got To Do Guys Is Take Down To Sentence " It's A Movie About Bunch Guys That Can Just Curve And Bend Around Bullets Around Solid Objects And Shit ! " Sounds Ridiclously Stupid Because IT IS !!!!!!! :-( |
