Brett Ratner-watch: Conan deal almost done?
Simon Brew
A third Conan movie moves closer, and Mr Ratner is apparently set to sign on the dotted line…
The planet’s favourite – and best! – movie director, Mr Brett Ratner, is believed to be close to putting ink on paper for the proposed new updated of Conan. It won’t have Arnie, and it’ll be a fresh take on the character rather than worrying about what had gone before, and Lionsgate is believed to be stumping up around $85m for the new film. Original screenwriters John Milius and Oliver Stone aren’t on board either, with Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly penning the script based on the Robert E Howard stories. The pair had previously scribed Sahara.
In further good news, the fact that Conan is getting the go ahead isn’t likely to interfere with Ratner’s plans to direct Beverly Hills Cop 4. The fourth outing for Axel Foley is still set for cinemas in 2010.
That’s two new Brett Ratner movies in one day. We spoil you, people. We spoil you…
