Are these the next 007 Blu-rays?
Simon Brew
It seems the next batch of James Bond adventures to get the high definition treatment have been chosen…
Back when the James Bond movies were first issued onto DVD, they came in three staggered swathes, over an eighteen month period, if memory serves. It seems that the same strategy is in place for the high definition releases of the Bond back catalogue too, although it seems that we may not have as long to wait this time round.
We’ve already seen Casino Royale appear on Blu-ray in two different guises, and in October 2008, six classic Bond films were released in high definition. They were Live and Let Die, Dr No, Thunderball, For Your Eyes Only, Die Another Day and From Russia With Love. Click on the links if you want to see our reviews of those.
Now, according to our good chums over at The Digital Bits, it seems that the next batch is being readied for a March release, in line with the DVD and Blu-ray unveiling of Quantum Of Solace. And the next titles to be chosen are:
- Diamonds Are Forever
- The World Is Not Enough
- Licence To Kill
- GoldenEye
- Goldfinger
- Moonraker
These haven’t been confirmed, but if true, it’ll be great to see GoldenEye, Diamonds Are Forever, Licence To Kill (a Bond adventure we’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for) and Goldfinger in high definition. The other two? Er, they’ll look nice on the shelf (Denise Richards: what on earth were they thinking?)
More news on these as we get it. In the meantime, The Digital Bits story is here.
