* A report at New York Magazine's website suggests that 20th Century Fox is looking to reboot the Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie vehicle Mr & Mrs Smith. The idea this time would be to focus on another couple, only this time a pair of (cheaper) 20-somethings would be recruited. That way, Pitt and Jolie's salaries wouldn't need to be added to the budget.

* Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton have been cast in the new film of The Thing, which is being directed by Matthijs Van Heijningen. Ronald D Moore and Eric Heisserer have penned the script, and the shoot begins next month.

* Director Joe Johnston has confirmed that the villain in his next project, The First Avenger: Captain America, will be Red Skull. Casting has yet to be determined, although a release date of July 22nd 2011 is inked in. Find more on this at ShockTillYouDrop.

* Meanwhile, the cast of Martin Campbell's The Green Lantern film, which is starring Ryan Reynolds in the title role, has been bolstered by the addition of Tim Robbins. Robbins is playing Senator Hammond, the father of the villain of the piece, Dr Hector Hammond (who's being played by Peter Sarsgaard). The shoot for this one begins next month too, and The Green Lantern is out on June 17th 2011. More here.

* Fox has begun work on developing a reboot of Daredevil, primarily, it seems, so that it won't lose the rights to the character (which will, of course, revert to Disney if Fox does nothing with them). There's still no firmer details on who would direct and who would star, but Deadline Hollywood does support that David Scarpa - who penned the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still - is on scripting duties.
