Star Trek XI: website goes live
Simon Brew
It's not out for a year, but is this the start that the Star Trek XI promotional campaign is about to kick off?
Paramount has launched the website for next year’s JJ Abrams reboot of the Star Trek saga. Located at www.startrekmovie.com, the site is dominated right now by the teaser trailer from a while back. And while we’re not really tempted to take up their offer to become a fan on Facebook (what does that mean, exactly?!), there is a Star Trek Movie forum that is also accessible via the site.
You can also download as desktop wallpaper the assorted new posters that we reported on the other day.
Truthfully, there’s not an awful lot there right now, but given that the film isn’t out until next summer, we suspect that situation will change over the coming months. Could this be the start of a year-long campaign, Dark Knight-style? Or is it, er, just a website launch? We'll find out soon enough.

Re: Star Trek XI: website goes liveThe website was actually launched back in January. It just underwent an update. The little introductory flash movie and music was removed; the black background is now white; there is now an exact release date rather than "May 2009"; there is an updated list of worldwide release dates; and, of course, there's the wallpapers and IM icons. The forums went live shortly after the site initially launched.
Being a "fan" on Facebook signs you up to the group dedicated to the movie. They send exclusive info and updates to your Facebook account, but it's usually stuff I've already read before (site updates, etc.).
Hope this helps. :) |
